Radiohead: 10 Classic Videos
Radiohead are a rock band who have, for over a decade, continued to inspire adulation and wonder by creating stunning, often experimental, innovative but hugely popular work. We celebrate the best of Radiohead with 10 of their classic videos.
With the initial release of In Rainbows, Radiohead hit the headlines by announcing the album would be made available for download, with fans being able to choose how much they wanted to pay. Controversial, challenging, anti-corporate, this is Radiohead to a tee, and a move coming from a band with their calibre and popularity has sent shockwaves through the music industry. Since In Rainbows has been made available on CD, the album is now eligible for the UK charts, and has had no problem shooting to the no. 1 slot.
But enough of that, we want to celebrate the magic of Radiohead's music, and to showcase their ground-breaking and stunning collection of videos. Starting with their 1995 album The Bends, we bring you Just, (the one where a man lays on a pavement throughout). See also High & Dry (US Version), Fake Plastic Trees and the album's awesome closer, Street Spirit (Fade Out) with director Jonathan Glazer's distinctive use of slow-motion and high-speed cameras.
From the seminal OK Computer (1997), watch the epic, surreal animation for Paranoid Android, the unsettling fan favourite Karma Police and the mesmerising No Surprises where Thom Yorke's glass helmet fills with water until he's completely submerged. From 2001's Amnesiac comes the beautiful Pyramid Song, and from their last album, Hail To The Thief (2003) watch Thom lost in a forest in There, There and marvel at the ominous, crumbling CGI city in Go To Sleep.
