Andrea Corr
As one quarter of Irish family sensation The Corrs, Andrea Corr has already seen huge success. Embarking on her first solo album though is an entirely new prospect. The beautiful songstress showcased her new songs in a stripped-down acoustic session.

Andrea's first solo record is entitled Ten Feet High and features the production prowess of one Nellee Hooper. Andrea was a big fan of Nellee's work on Bjork's Debut, and together they've created what Andrea describes as a "dramatic" sounding record. By contrast, Andrea's session featured only her vocals and her guitarist, Anton. "I think people get a chance to hear how the songs were written and them organically before we added the drama of Nellee Hooper's production which to me is so wonderful " said Andrea of the stripped-back performance.
It was Andrea's good friend Bono who introduced her to Hooper (a handy friend to know) but from then on, the youngest Corr was on her own in trying to get him on board, going through a "terrifying audition" and enduring a nervous wait before he gave her the good news.
The subsequent album, Ten Feet High is full of songs both personal and imaginary, political and playful. On Shame On You To Keep My Love From Me, Andrea was inspired by Sebastian Faulks's epic WWI novel, Birdsong whereas Hello Boys is the imagined story of a lady of the night. Ten Feet High and The Stupidest Girl In The World concern matters of the heart, about respectively the "end of love" and repeating romantic mistakes over and over.
Andrea also performed a special song, a cover of Neil Young's classic The Needle And The Damage Done. A song about heroin abuse, not a natural choice one might think? "Neil Young is one of my favourite writers" explained Andrea "his music is so beautiful and the lyrics are just so real and raw."
Performing in front of a select crowd of lucky fans gave the chance for both audience and singer to get up close and personal. Handy for Andrea, who described the biggest inspiration for the album as being "people-watching."
It's no problem for Andrea, who has been performing since the age of 15, so by now is an old hand, and had the audience in the palm of her hand. So while the other Corrs are busy with their families, it looks like Andrea will be carrying on the family's tradition of musical success very well on her own.
