Sao Paolo, Brazil's cutest and sexiest sextet brightened up our studio with their retro-electro-pop. CSS are undoubtedly one of the breakthroughs of 2007. Watch their fluorescent and fantastic live performance here.

Famously their name is a Portugese translation of a Beyonce's quote: "Tired of being sexy", Cansei de Ser Sexy, or CSS for short formed in 2003 in the vibrant musical scene in swinging Sao Paolo, where everybody would, according to sole male member Adriano, get drunk and say "let's have a band!" And so CSS began, moving quickly from hanging out, drinking and playing in Adriano's studio to performing at Brazil's biggest music festival and being legendary grunge label Sub Pop's first South American signing.

Having released their debut album, Cansei de Ser Sexy in 2006 and touring it all over the world ever since, Lovefoxx, Adriano, Carolina, Ana, Iracema and Luiza were weary from their 7am starts, but told us the pleasure of performing always outweighs the tiredness: "When we get on stage it's like magic, we are so happy."

CSS's infectious enthusiasm and pared-down electro aesthetics has won them ardent fans all over the world, from Brazil to Belgium to Glasgow and back. Swept up in the so-called 'nu-rave' phenomenon of the moment, with touring mates from the likes of Klaxons and New Young Pony Club, CSS's songs, from Alcohol (a UK favourite, naturally) to Let's Make Love And Listen To Death From Above have become dancefloor stalwarts.

The band are iconic in an off-kilter way. In particular, singer Lovefoxx, with her penchant for stage-diving in rainbow-sequined catsuits and/or stripping ensures their live shows are not to be missed. We created a special fluro-lit set for the show, so while we can't promise you crowd-surfing, it dazzles just the same.

Web-savvy CSS, who gained greater exposure through their use of the internet, were pleased to be creating an online session for AOL. Adriano explained: "The good thing about performing on the internet is that the thing is going to be there forever."
