James Blunt

James Blunt

James Blunt's debut, Back To Bedlam was the unprecedented hit of 2005, catapulting the young ex-army soldier to stardom. Now, after a 2-year gap, Blunt is back and ready to prove he's come up with the goods again. We had him perform an exclusive set of songs from his new album All The Lost Souls and you can catch it here.

In 2005 and 2006, there wasn't a radio in the country that wasn't playing one of Blunt's hits, from Goodbye My Lover to Wiseman, and of course, that song. You're Beautiful, beloved by many, derided by some, will surely go down as one of the most talked about songs in recent times. James Blunt became an icon, a talking point, his songs gracing funerals and weddings across the country. Internationally too, from Germany to France and the US, Blunt was taken to people's hearts.

Famously well-spoken and from an army background, signed by Linda (4NonBlondes) Perry and from then on celebrity status, James Blunt seems an unlikely star at first glance. But music has always been a passion of James's, and after leaving the army, he wasted no time in getting back to his real vocation, a precocious yet understated talent for song-writing and melody.

Where Back To Bedlam was a touching collection of ballads and poignant melodies, All The Lost Souls, James's second album is, by contrast an unexpectedly uplifting and in the majority, light-hearted affair. The first single, 1973, James told us, was inspired by spending time at his house in Ibiza, going to clubs like Pacha, staying up late and partying. This more laid-back approach is clearly apparent in the new songs, which will have your toes tapping in an instant. A natural raconteur and sharp wit, James held the small but rapturous audience in the palm of his hand for the length of the session.

James Blunt

For ardent Back To Bedlam fans, never fear, for the James Blunt of yore is still apparent on songs such as I Really Want You. We now have the full session for your enjoyment, including new songs, Carry You Home, Same Mistake and One Of The Brightest Stars plus the hit single 1973, I Really Want You and the classic from Back To Bedlam, Wiseman.
