JoJo
Teen sensation JoJo is still growing in every sense of the word - as an artist and physically, after all she's only 16 years old!
JoJo comes bouncing into the AOL Sessions studio in California, hugging old friends who've come by for a visit and generally giving out all the positive vibes you'd expect from a rising pop star with success on both sides of the Atlantic.
Even though she's only just legally able to drive, her eye is firmly set on a white BMW with white interior and some bling chrome rims to set the whole thing off nicely. However, we're here for the music and latest album The High Road shows how far she has come with the new collection displaying not only her incredible voice but also a fast-maturing musical outlook.
"Every album is gonna show growth and you're gonna see a different side of me because I'm still growing," JoJo says. "Every few months I start to get into a different genre of music or get turned onto a different artist who inspires me."
Watch the videos though to really get a sense of how she has changed. Vocally, she's much more powerful, especially on tracks such as How To Touch A Girl. "When we got into the studio and worked on that song, it was something I could really relate to. I love performing it because it's more stripped down," she says.
Her recent forays into film, notably with RV with Robin Williams has only served to drive her back into the arms of music: "Doing films made me miss music more...you can be whoever you want," she says.
And, it's that passion for music and desire to keep on moving forward that's propelling her upwards: "I'm always thinking 'What can I do to take it to the next level?' It sounds cheesy, but you should never be satisfied with where you are. You should appreciate it for what it is, say, 'OK, I did a great job, but how can I improve?' So I'm looking forward to the next step," says JoJo.
