Paul Weller
What can we say that hasn't been said before? We'd like to introduce Paul Weller to AOL Sessions.
After nearly 30 years in the music biz, Paul Weller has not just influenced one generation - he's influenced a few.
Be it the Gallagher brothers from Oasis, Damon Albarn and Blur, or the latest generation of rock hopefuls, including Arctic Monkeys and Hard-Fi, there's no denying his legacy.
Rewarded at the 2006 BRIT Awards by a music industry that he's often been at odds with, Weller has at last been publicly recognised for songs such as Down In The Tube Station At Midnight and That's Entertainment from his Jam days, the funk/jazz of The Style Council's Money Go Round and Shout To The Top, and a solo career spanning 13 albums - including his latest, the acclaimed As Is Now.
Throughout 2006, he's toured extensively, released a new live DVD and, perhaps slightly gallingly, presented his mate Noel Gallagher with a Q Classic Songwriter award.
Words were exchanged, with tongues in cheeks, as Weller's status as a classic songwriter is really without question.
2007 will start with Weller acknowledging his legacy with three back-to-back dates in New York, with each night highlighting a different aspect of his career to date.
Here's a chance to see the legend that is Paul Weller performing five songs from As Is Now, plus a cover version of Tobacco Ash Sunday, exclusively for AOL Sessions.
You can also find out what he has to say about his music in an interview, and take a look behind the scenes of his session.
