Purveyors of the finest in winsome alt-country rock, Wilco's exclusive session showcased four gems from their latest album, Sky Blue Sky.

Two bands arose from the ashes of Uncle Tupelo: Jay Farrar went on to form Son Volt and co-singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy formed Wilco, which for over nearly a decade has seen enough lineup changes to rival Sugababes and a fair amount of drama along the way.

A happily settled and well-oiled sextet now, singer Jeff Tweedy described the band's love for what they do as a day job in our interview:

"People seem to not have any problem with the idea that most of the people they know in their life go to work every day. That seems like a totally normal thing. And maybe have a couple of weeks off a year or something. If you're lucky you have a few more weeks than that a year. But people seem to think it's really weird when musicians want to go to work every day. I think it's really good for us to all want to go to work. It's an awesome job."

Wilco have done their best to defy expectation and push musical boundaries, with soul and electronica popping up on their diverse back catalogue of stunning albums like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Being There and A Ghost Is Born. Of the criticism that Sky Blue Sky's direct, emotive and deceptively simple songs are a disappointment, Tweedy replied: "You have no choice but to make something you really like and that you really want to hear...put it out and take your lumps, which we've done each time."

Jeff Tweedy's voice sounds like an old friend, his band are tight, talented multi-instrumentalists and the songs are heartfelt and played with real passion. If you don't already love Wilco, watch the band perform songs from Sky Blue Sky and you will soon.
